Crazy Deke's One-Stop Coop Data Machine!
... WITH NEW AND/OR IMPROVED PRODUCTS ...
(for now, these products are intended for internal use only, and available only to ou.edu domain)

Background:
The scripts available via these pages are being overhauled/created to accomodate our new, long-term coop data set!

Currently:
Finishing up overhauls of CLIMOCS and Timeseries products.

Next:
A Month in Time: Refine original implementation.

A Month in Time
Pick a station, month, and year. We'll present you with a calendar of the observed data therein (big words impress people).
This is designed to answer the question: "What was the weather like on my honeymoon in Muskogee in July 1951?"
Status: bare-bones functional for limited data, lots of bugs, more development needed
To Be Done: Too much to list, but includes: recognizing "param not available"; incorporate winter precip; compute monthly avgs/extremes; fix "end year = 9999" bug

Monthly Climate Calendar
Long-term averages, temperature and precip extremes for each day of a given month for a given station.
This is designed to answer the question: "What is it like in Ardmore during April?"
Status: Complete
Stuff I intend to do, but not in this version: Construct composite stations for cities, counties, or start-n-stop stations with different numbers. (e.g., an "OKC Metro Area" superstation of Tinker, Wiley Post, Will Rogers, OKC East, etc).

Statewide Records
These are culled directly from the output of the daily coop records scripts.
This is designed to answer the question: "Just how hot/cold/rainy/snowy can it get in Oklahoma on my birthday?"
Status: Machinery complete (could use a facelift)
To Be Done: Aesthetic changes: text formatting, color, etc.

Statewide Normal/Extreme Maps
These are culled from the output of the daily coop records scripts.
This is designed to answer the question: "Just how hot/cold/rainy/snowy can it get at every station in Oklahoma on my birthday?" Or the question: "What's the normal Tmax/Tmin/rainfall at every station in Oklahoma on my birthday?"
Status: Still in "conceptualization phase" (I haven't done a darn thing)

Timeseries Information (monthly version)
Daily values for any of six variables (Tmax, Tmin, Tobs, Precip, Snowfall and Snow Depth) for up to 36 months per retrieval.
Status: Almost Complete.
Estimated completion date: Monday, December 9. E-mail me any suggestions by then.
To Be Done: catch "didn't select a real station" before continuing.
Done: Converted to new data set; increase maximum data pull to >36 months (per Gary McManus).

Daily Calendar Information
Records and long-term averages (not official normals!) for a given day for a selected station
Status: USES OLD, INCOMPLETE DATA SET: MAY BE IN ERROR FOR SOME CASES. A NEW VERSION IS FORTHCOMING. Consider "Monthly Climate Calendar" as an alternative. THIS SCRIPT IS LAST IN LINE FOR REPAIRS.

CLIMOCS Summary Information
Temperature/precip extremes and 30-year normals (or a surrogate normal) and exceedence-of-threshold frequencies for each of the 12 months for a selected station.
Status: Almost complete.
Estimated completion date: Wednesday, November 27. E-mail me any suggestions by then.
To Be Done: Tweak tables to eliminate "crowded" look. Write help page. List annual data. Handle trace precipitation. List periods of record. Separate fozen precip into its own table?
Stuff I intend to do, but not in this version: Construct composite stations for cities, counties, or start-n-stop stations with different numbers. (e.g., an "OKC Metro Area" superstation of Tinker, Wiley Post, Will Rogers, OKC East, etc).
